Q - My Mr Mute seems to have stop working. When I click the mute button it no longer mutes the TV. A - Your Mr Mute may have lost connection to your WIFI. Go to your iPhone WIFI settings and you will see your Mr Mute device presenting itself as a captive WIFI hub. Connect to it just as you did when you first set up the unit to your WIFI. If Mr Mute loses WIFI connectivity it tries 5 times in 15 minutes to reconnect then gives up and resets if it fails 5 times.
Q - Why is there a second or two delay when my TV live content stream goes to commercial break and Mr Mute muting the sound. A - Devices receiving live streaming content over the internet will accumulate network lag over time. You should be able to pause and resume you streaming service for the delay interval to help match things up.
Q - My unit seems to pause for a few seconds after changing the channel selection. A - Yes. The system does take about three seconds to include your device into the large pool of other MM devices subscribing to the live stream. These subscription pools have many thousands of members.
Q - My LG TV has a sound bar is connected via fiber optic cable and Mr Mute does not seem to work. A - Yes. This issue has been noted and is a LG glitch. If you simply connect the sound bar using an HDMI cable all will be fine. Here is how that works When a device receives an IR command it acts upon it if the device owns the function requested otherwise the device (TV) broadcasts the command over the HDMi bus via the CEC protocal. The listening cognizant device owning the function acts upon it. For example our set up on all TVs is Sony TV with an Apple TV pugged on HTMI as well as a Sonos sound bar. Without MM I use the Apple clicker which talks to Apple TV via radio waves. (wow talk about proprietary) When I power up the Sony TV it relays the "POWER-UP" command HDMI CEC and the Apple TV and SONOS obey and turn on. The SONOS immediately tell Sony and Apple via HTMI CEC "Hey I in command and control of sound. So you guys stand down but please relay me via CEC any sound functions needed. Like mute, volume up/down, etc. When MM sends Sony the mute signal Sony thinks, hey that is not for me and emits the mute command to all listening on the HDMI. The SONOS takes and acts. When I use the Home button in the MM user interface (UI) then Apple TV presents its own UI in response and I can completely the Apple TV via MM and not need the Apple clicker.
